Peru Day 2
Our night’s sleep was great – it is VERY quiet in our rooms except for the chatter of the girls next door. Once we got over the fact that there was almost no background noise – air conditioning, appliances and traffic – we slept pretty soundly. Breakfast was at 7 am – we had eggs, a sort of flatbread, and GRITS! (We actually brought the grits with us in our luggage.) Lunch was going to be homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (again packed with our luggage) and assorted chips and cookies. We loaded vans for various tasks – a construction crew, two different VBS teams, and a nursing team. I spend the day with Paula Yates and her crew of VBS professionals.
Jim has given our teams the over-riding mission of making relationships so that we will have a platform to share Jesus. I must say with pride, that our youth know how to make relationships! From coloring to soccer to relay races and sharing lunch, our youth made lots of new friends. For me personally, I had a great conversation through our interpreter, Maria, with Roberto who is a teacher at the school. By the end of the conversation, Roberto prayed to receive Christ! I’m overwhelmed that God would use me all the way from Mississippi to reach this wonderful young man with the truth of Christ. Pray for Roberto – there is no church in his town and he desperately needs other Christians around him.
